For My Journal

We have been so blessed this Christmas with generosity from all of those around us. We have had people bring us gift cards to help with Christmas and even the ward brought us Christmas Eve dinner. We were feeling so overwhelmed and had vowed to make a difference in the same way every Christmas.

Then things changed for us when a knock came at our door on Christmas Eve at 8. Andy answered the door and found a jar full of coins sitting on our front porch. I was misting with tears as I sat there and thought about this sweet sentiment. Later that night after the boys had gone to bed I went down and took the jar from the table and went up to my bed. As I sat on my bed saying a prayer of thanksgiving a piece of ribbon caught my eye in the middle of the jar. As I pulled it out it looked like a couple of dollars rolled together. Upon further inspection I noticed a 100 dollar bill and a 50 dollar bill. I was bawling at the generosity of whomever left this on our porch. They will never know how much this means to us. We want to thank that person for their generosity. I went out to Deseret Book today and bought this book and am planning on making that and this jar a part of our yearly holiday tradition. Their website is http://www.christmasjars.com/ if you want to read more amazing stories. The gospel is truly an anchor to us and we are so grateful for the blessing we have received. We can see the Lord walking with us through this trial and know that we will be a stronger family because of it.
