First day of summer

On the first day of summer the boys were able to experience a great summer activity, flushing of the fire hydrants.  We had turned on our water and it was just trickling so we called the city to see what was going on.  They told us they were flushing hydrants so the water pressure was just low.
As soon as my boys heard this they jumped into their swimming suits.  There were a ton of little boys out there having the time of their lives.  When the city workers came to turn it off all of them yelled no don't turn it off.  That was the best start to the summer months.

Swimming lessons

I signed the boys up for swimming lessons early in the summer before things got too crazy.  They both did really well.  Alex is a great swimmer and Logan is just fearless when it comes to water.  I am glad he now knows a few skills so I can have a little peace of mind.

Last day at Birch Creek

On Alex's last day of school his teacher had a water party.  Logan and I got to come to the school and help out and we had a blast.  He has wanted to ride home from school for a while but I didn't think it was a good idea since he had to cross a major highway.  Finally on the last day I let him ride home as I followed behind him.
Alex has loved Birch Creek but a new adventure awaits him as he will be starting at a charter school up on campus next year.  It was great to be a Birch Creek Bulldog!!

Memorial Weekend

We started off the weekend with a trip to Liberty Park.  Andy had an appointment in Salt Lake so the boys and I headed to the park to ride the rides and enjoy the day.  They had such a blast riding the Ferris wheel, playing on the playground and eating cotton candy.  It was the perfect kickoff for summer.

Logan was so tuckered out after a long day he fell asleep on the stairs.
On Sunday we went to take flowers to Emma.  It was a cold and rainy day so we didn't get to spend as much time as we wanted to at the cemetery but it was nice to be able to take her flowers.

Then on Monday we didn't have any plans so the boys and I decided to head to the Bingham Copper Mine.  It was so cold that day and I didn't realize how high up the mine was.  When we got to the mountain there was snow on the ground.  The boys loved seeing all the monstrous trucks and the miles and miles of road within the deep cavern.  The most exciting part of the day was when we were evacuated from the visitors center.  We still are not sure what caused the evacuation but we were glad that it was right as we were getting ready to leave.

Right as I snapped this picture the park ranger approached us.  I thought we were in trouble for getting in the bucket.  She just nicely told us they were evacuating the mine and couldn't give anymore details. YIKES!!!
