Old fashion Fun

A city close to us has resurrected an old time tradition of freezing over a local park and making an ice skating rink. We wanted to go last year but we didn't have ice skates. This year they decided to rent them out so we went. Logan was not as adventurous as I thought he would be and refused to wear skates. Alex loved it after getting the hang of it. I had a lot of fun and felt like I was in an old fashion movie. I love living in a small town.

Friends Party

I decided to go the easy route this year with Alex's birthday. I knew we were going to have a big family thing when he got baptized so I didn't want to plan 2 big shindigs. We came up with the idea of going sledding and then coming back to our house for cake and ice cream. It ended up being a lot of fun and just what I wanted, easy.

Alex turns 8

On Alex's birthday we just spent the day with each other. Alex wanted to go to the fun park, have meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner and brownies for dessert. He made it an easy day for his mom.

Awesome Christmas Present

My SIL gave us the best Christmas present. She gave us an FHE kit. It had the nursery manual so Alex could give the lessons, a jar of cookie mix and a jar of activities to choose from. The boys have been so excited about picking out an activity. The first one we chose was called flour penny. Basically it involved building a tower out of flour and putting a penny on top. Then each person cut away a chunk of it while avoiding dropping the penny. If the penny fell then you had to pick it up with your teeth. It was a lot of fun.

Logan is a sunbeam!!

I can't believe he is a Sunbeam. He has been so excited about this day and he was awesome. I dropped him off, he sat down and I walked out. Zero drama!! The song Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam really helped us with this transition.

Snow and sledding

The boys spent their New Years building a great snowman. These pictures were taken the next morning that is why they are in their pjs.

Then the next day we headed to our favorite sledding hill since mom didn't have to work.

December Happenings (up to Christmas)

This post can be summed up with one word: TRADITIONS!!!
We started out the month with our tradition of making our own tree ornaments. This year Alex wanted them done with felt. They were super easy to do and a lot of fun. We even had a robber snowman on our tree.

Alex and I had a date to Voice Male again this year. They put on the best show and we both laughed so hard. This year we invited dad and Logan to join us at Bluebird for dessert. That place holds 4 generations worth of memories now.

That same night I took the boys to see the ice skating show.

We went to the mall to see the jolly old man himself.

We had a fun holiday open house with our friends. Thanks Longhurts for coming to town!! There daughter loved the food and we even discovered she was allergic to peanut butter:( The kids were up way too late and this was them the next night at 7.

We made yummy Christmas treats.

And then there was Christmas so stay tuned.
