The rain, rain, rain came down, down, down...

And rushed right into our neighborhood. The month of June was crazy for rain. We average about 1/2 an inch of rain for our area and we ended up with somewhere around 4 inches.
The night of June 2nd was the craziest rain storm I have ever seen. (I have lived in Oregon so I know all about rain.) The thunder was loud and continuous, the lightning bright and crackly, and the rain was heavy and constant. I am not sure why I didn't think to take pics that night but I didn't. At about 9:30 as we were all shuffling up to bed we get a loud knock on the door. Andy opens it and our neighbor informs us that there is water in our window well. Andy went outside to investigate while I go downstairs to start building a dam. Andy said there was probably about a foot of water in the window well when he went outside and the window was bailed 3 times in an hour.

The aftermath

The last bail out.

The next few days brought more rain and instead of fearing it we decided to embrace our new friend. We danced in the rain and loved every minute of it. Fortunately for us we did not flood again. Our neighbors were not so lucky and we ended up bailing them out. It was a crazy week and I now have blueprints for an ark if anyone needs them.

A river runs through it.
